Sakai, Yoshichi: Born in 1937. Entered Kyoto University in 1956. Joined in 1959 the Japanese Fourth International (FI) group – the Japan Revolutionary Communist League (JRCL), being its full-timer from 1963 to 1987. FI-International Executive Committee (IEC) member in the 1970s and 1980s, and FI-bureau member in Paris in 1980-81. Edited “Revolutionary Controversies of the Second International” (Tokyo, 1975), and the editor of the Japanese “Writings of Leon Trotsky” from the mid-1970s to the early 1990s.
