Today, 11 October 2012, PALEA got information from the Pasay City Municipal Trial Court branch 44 that arrest warrants on PALEA officers and members were released to the police. We are expecting the arrest to be implemented by authorities anytime.
The case filed against the PALEA 39 is grave coercion during the defense of the camp last 29 October 2011 when hired goons attacked the picketline. PALEA views this as an ongoing harassment by some elements of the previous management who have good connection to the court. PALEA condemns the travesty of justice.
We will update you of any actual arrest and PALEA with PM and labor unity coalition Nagkaisa! will mobilize to the Pasay Court until justice is served.
In the Philippines if a criminal complaint arises out of a labor dispute, a mandatory clearance from the Department of Labor should first be issued, where there was none and even the Secretary of Labor already made a statement that no clearance has been issued. This is injustice!
We appeal to our international friends for the continued solidarity and support to PALEA’s quest for justice and reinstatement to its jobs. We will keep you posted.
In solidarity,
Alnem Pretencio
Vice President PALEA
