Today is the day where the judiciary system turned a blind eye once again to social injustice. The system became the oppressors’ tool time and again, sending peaceful demonstrators to imprisonment.
The list of political prisoners included HKCTU Secretary General Lee Cheuk Yan, and party member of The Labour Party, Cyd Ho Sau Lan. The two were sentenced to 14 months and 8 months of imprisonment respectively for their participation in a peaceful demonstration.
We are infuriated by such tyranny, and we will not be intimidated by any political prosecution. We will continue to stand our ground to walk with our fellow Hong Kong people.
Civic rights in demonstrations, including both 18th August 2019 march and 31st August 2019 march, were barbarously robbed by the Hong Kong Police Force. Such remained the cause to Hong Kong citizens’ resorting to civil disobedience.
Quoting Lee’s words before being sentenced to imprisonment, it is our honour to be able to walk with millions of Hong Kong citizens.
It is always the tyrant who should be brought to trial, and never the oppressed people. The increasingly turbulent times call for us to step in and step up.
When those before us are gone, it is then we take matters into our hands; it is then we continue the resistance. So as long the belief remains, the resistance of Hong Kong will continues.
We can be physically imprisoned, but our conscience continues to remain free. The people of Hong Kong, imprisoned or not, will remain in solidarity and continue to fight for a democratic future.
