Bangladesh Bhumiheen Samity General Secretary Subal Sarker chaired the human chain while CPBML Polit Bureau Member Mukhlesuddin Shahin, Bangladesh Shramik Federation General Secretary AAM Fayez Hossain, Bangladesh Krishok Federation leader Zayed Iqbal Khan, Vice-Chair person Rehana Begum, Bangladesh Bhumiheen Samity Advisory Committee Member Mazid Mallik, Shramik leader Doctor Shamsul Alam, Shramik leader Harun Or Rashid Bhuiyan, Bangladesh Kisahni Sabha leader Sathi Akter, Nilufa Begum, Women leader Ambia Khatun shila, Sathi Roy, Peasant leader Abul Kalam Sikder, and Shahabuddin Matubbor, among others.

In the rally the speakers said that the organizations of small holder peasants and landless peasants of the world and Asian Peasant Coalition have been observing March 29 as Landless People Day. we, few organization, have been observing this day every year in Bangladesh. Ruling class and land bandits have systematically repressing and torturing on small peasants-landless from country to country.

On 10 June in 1985 at Gugudah Beel in Sathya under Pubna district at the cost of fresh blood of Imtiaj, Lokman, Lalmomohon, Haidor and Kolimuddin the landless men and women established their just right to Khasland through fightback and struggle. In the same way by waging the struggle for the right to land, landless woman leader Zaida Begum, Karunamoiye, Najir Dewan, Narayaon, Alfred Soren, Eshak Mollah, Somiron Begum, Dhiren and Abdul Karim became martyrs.

They added that the struggle for land is going on across the country. The struggle is on in Dashmina-Galachipa under Patuakhali district, at Sujanagar -Bera under Pubna district, at Debhata-Kaligonj under Satkihira district, at Nageshwary-Bhurangamari-Rajibpur under Kurigram, Manikgonj, Rangpur, Rajbari, Khulna, Bogra, Sirajgonj including different more other districts. They also added that the food sovereignty, rural way of life, rural employment, society and culture are closely related to the struggle for land.

The rally demanded the distribution of Khasland among landless, inclusion of the representative of the landless peasants in the Khasland settlement committee, implementation of Land Protection Manual-2010 for the preservation of arable land, recovery of land from the hand land terrorists.

It can be mentioned that first assembly of APC (Asian Peasant Coalition) was held in Dhaka, Bangladesh on 29 March 2004. This day was declared as the International day of Landless.
