Dear friends
The call for a Global Day of Action on 26th January 2008, is a major innovation for the WSF process globally. Many of you would already be planning activities around this Call (see below).
You are also aware of the Conference on Climate Change in Bali, Indonesia on 3-14th December. In addition to the official events, there will be satellite events organised by movements and NGOs linked to the Asian and global processes of the WSF, and many will be attending these events. This provides a good opportunity to find some time to meet together and discuss how we can liaise and co-ordinate our activities for the 26th January mobilisation. It is also an opportunity to try to take forward the WSF process in Asia.
As you may know, the Colombo consultation on WSF, involving Asian movements and organisations, in June 2005, had constituted the Interim WSF Asia Council. We met during the Hong Kong Ministerial in December, 2005, at the polycentric WSF event in Karachi and at the Indian Social Forum in New Delhi in 2006, but a fully inclusive meeting drawing in participation from all parts of Asia has not been possible after Colombo.
We propose a larger meeting of movements and organizations in the Solidarity Village (see below) Address: Solidarity Village for a Cool Planet, Kampung CSO Nusa Dua (at the Bali Collection shopping complex)on December 9th, 2007 at 7 pm to 9 pm to discuss the 26th January mobilisation in Asia, and another smaller planning meeting on more long term issues regarding deepening of the WSF process in Asia on December 11 th from 10 am to 4 pm at the Ratna Beach Hotel, Jalan D, Segara Ayu no. 10,Sanur, Bali, Indonesia, Phone:+62361-289109, Fax: +62361-288418.
We would like to invite your organisation to send a representative to these meetings, recognizing your organisation’s experience as part of the movement against neo-liberal and corporate globalization and also your interest in the social forum process.
We look forward to a positive reply from you.
In solidarity,
WSF India, Institute for Global Justice, Federasi Serikat Petani Indonesia (FSPI), Focus on the Global South

Call for Day of Action and Mobilisation - January 26th 2008
We are millions of women and men, organisations, networks, movements, trade unions from all parts of the world, we come from villages, regions, rural zones urban centres, we are of all ages, peoples, cultures, beliefs, but we are united by the strong conviction that
ANOTHER WORLD IS POSSIBLE
With all the richness of our plurality and diversity and our alternatives and proposals, we struggle against neo-liberalism, war, colonialism, racism and patriarchy which produce violence, exploitation, exclusion, poverty, hunger and ecological disaster and deprive people of human rights.
For many years we have been resisting and constructing innovative processes, new cultures of organization and action from the local to the global, in particular within the processes and Charter of Principle of the World Social Forum from which this call emerges.
Aware of the need to set our own agenda and to increase the impact of these thousands of expressions and manifestations, we are committed to strengthening the solidarity and convergence amongst our struggles, campaigns, and constructions of alternatives and alliances.
We commit ourselves to a week of action, which will culminate in a Global Day of Mobilisation and Action on January 26
With our diversity which is our strength, we invite all men and women to undertake throughout this week creative actions, activities, events and convergences focusing on the issues and expressed in the ways they choose.
ACT TOGETHER FOR ANOTHER WORLD!

This will be an open space gathering all those men and women, from East, West, North and South who believe that global warming cannot be tackled with market solutions and neo-liberalism. We believe that solutions can only be found in fundamental changes in the way we produce, trade and consume.
The Solidarity Village for a Cool Planet will be a space for debates, peoples assemblies, conferences, self-organised workshops, cultural events, fiestas, symbolic events and informal gatherings.
The Village will be a meeting place but not a space for accommodation/camping.
