In 2024 (April 13-May 3), we had successfully launched the 12th Asian Regional School (ARS) with 17 participants from Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Bangladesh, Philippines, Australia, Nepal, Pakistan and lecturers from Hongkong, France, The Netherlands and Philippines.
There were 6 men, 9 women and 2 LGBTQIA comrades who actively participated in the school. A public forum was also held successfully in the University of the Philippines on Myanmar and Palestine: Solidarity from below.
In the occasion, the Women comrades from Asian countries and from the Philippines also held a meeting and recommended for an Asian Women Conference.
During the ARS, we had a comprehensive and very vibrant discussion on our Trade Union works in the Philippines and other countries like Australia.
And as we usually have in the previous schools, the participants had an immersion with communities and a concrete experience (first hand) with the mass movement in the country. They had participated in 1st of May (Labor Day) mass rally together with other political groups in the country.
This year’s ARS (13th) will be held on May 25 – June 14, 2025 with a public seminar on Debt and Migration.
But this year, we have to say goodbye to our building for 16 years. The owner will be using it for a family business. We are moving to a new and much bigger space with two conference halls, three quarters and five comfort rooms (WC). A much bigger space but also with much higher cost. This will be a new opportunity to raise higher our goals and much brighter.
The IIRE Manila team believes that this is worth for ideological, political and organizational developments for the International as well as for the Philippine section.
