A severe economic crisis has led to the closure of most industries and widespread unemployment. The price hike of everyday goods has reached peak levels, with increases in the prices of gas, electricity, and oil being one of the formulas adopted by the present and former governments to raise revenue and repay foreign loans.

There is no tax on the rich, but indirect taxation prevails at all times. Over 60 percent of tax collection is through indirect taxation, leading to hunger among most working-class families. Ramadan is approaching, followed by Eid Ul Fitr after one month. Many families are eagerly awaiting some sort of support to survive during these days.

The Pakistan Kissan Rabita Committee is launching a Finance appeal to provide food rations for at least 200 of the most needy working-class families. We aim to raise 10 lakh rupees ($3500) to provide basic dry food rations worth 5000 rupees for each family. We would be grateful if you could make a donation to provide rations starting from the 1^st of Ramadan.
