Dear brothers and sisters,
We write to update you on Lee Cheuk-yan, General Secretary of Hong Kong Confederation of Trade Unions (HKCTU), who is recently imprisoned, and invite you to write to him. Letters are always an effective way to deliver strong mental support to unionists and activists in solidarity.
Yan was charged for engagement in 5 unauthorised rallies in the 2019 protest movement, May Day and June Fourth Candlelight Vigil in 2020. He has been sentenced to 14 months with two more cases pending trial. In a submission to court for a case, Yan stated having done “no wrong in affirming the rights of people to peaceful procession and I believe history will absolve me”.
Please write to show your support and be a pen pal of Yan. Since HKCTU receives the letters on their behalf before grouping and forwarding them into the prison, please send us the letter by -
