Among other things, we had three major events in 2018.

– The first is the Landless Char [fallow lands] Conference in southern Bangladesh where we have a massive land occupation.

– The second is the land occupation action in Barisal District.

– The third is the election to the Upazila of Shamsunnahar Doli Khan who is the president of Bangladesh Kishani Sabha. She was elected as the female vice president, winning by landslide victory.

In 2018, we had also to face a serious smear campaign. In response to the progressive successes of the land occupation movement initiated by BKF and its allies, the establishment, on this occasion, tried to harm and disorient our organizations and their members. We had to overcome this situation through mass communication, mobilization, correspondence, etc. We also had to organize many meetings at the grassroots level to make our members understand the wrong motivation of the local establishments that were against the interests of the landless.

Today, the situation is under control, although they sometimes try to disrupt our activities.
