We Want to Live Together Initiative is a solidarity network advocating open borders, disclosing the consequences of border policies and making the problems of migrants visible. We strive to build a life together without discriminating between migrants and citizens. The initiative was formed in July 2019 in an effort to contend the deportations and rights violations taking place after the Governorate of Istanbul issued a statement to fight against irregular migration statement, and defend living together without racism and discrimination.
We Want to Live Together Initiative acknowledges the fact that mass migrations all around the globe area consequence of wars caused by states and capitalism, as well as climate change, inequality, poverty and discrimination. We advocate unrestricted freedom of movement and right to live in humane standards for everybody regardless of their place of birth, place of residence, gender identity, sexual orientation, race and ethnic belonging.
We Want to Live Together Initiative aims for a long-term and international struggle and therefore does not distinguish between citizens, regular-irregular migrants and refugees. Our fight for freedom of movement and basic rights of accommodation, education, access to work and healthcare is one that is created together with migrants and is defended for all migrants. We say no to racism and discrimination legitimised by borders and state policies anywhere and anytime.
