Leaders and supporters of 3 organizations serving the interest of indigenous people observed a day long human chain program in Dinajpur demanding the implementation of 3-point charter of demands including the constitutional rights of Adivasi community.
In observance of 9 August World Indigenous People Day, yesterday Wednesday 8 August 2018 in the morning in the banner of Bangladesh Adivasi Samity, Bangladesh Krishok Federation and Bangladesh Kishani Sabha in the front road of Dianjour Press Club a day long human chain was observed.
Chaired by Bangladesh Bangladesh Adivasi Samity Dinajpur District Unit President Swapan Akka Bangladesh Krishok Federation Central Member Masudur Rahaman Swapan Bhuiyan spoke as chief guest while Bangladesh Krishok Federation Dinajpur District Unit President Tarok Kobiraj spoke as special guests. Among others, Rashedul Islam, Hazera Begum, Md. Hasan Ali. Mst.Lota Afsari and Nurnahar spoke there.
In the post human chain rally the speakers said that there is a deep politics around their culture, ritual. Even the same is taking place with their language. In which language will their children study? That is also being hampered in various ways.
They also added that they want to remind the government about the movement of mother language of 1952. So, it may not be wise to do politics with the language of Santal indigenous. It never resulted in good consequence in the past and will not in future. Paying much respect to legendary Adivasi leaders in the history, Sidhu, Kanu, Chad and Bairov they took oath that they would no more be addicted with drug rather they would be united to protect their future generation in the perfect way.
There point demands of indigenous people include the constitutional recognition of indigenous people, customary right to land, formation of separate land commission for the indigenous people based in plain land.

World Indigenous People Day Observed in Dhaka
Today on Friday 10 August 2018 at 4 pm in front of Dhaka National Press Club in observance of the Day, 9 August, the international Day of realization of the rights of world indigenous people a human chain program were held.
Bangladesh Krishok Federation, Bangladesh Kishani Sabha, Bangladesh Adivasi Samity, Bangladesh Bhumihin Samity and Labor Resource Center jointly organized the function.
Presided over by Bangladesh Krishok Federation President comrade Badrul Alam the human chain was addressed, among other, by Bangladesh Kirshok Federation General Secretary Zayed Iqbal Khan, Bangladesh Bhumihin Samity General Secretary Subal Sarker, Bangladesh Adivasi Samity General Secretary Omoli Kisku, Bangladesh Kishani Sabha General Secretary Sabina Yasmin, Bangladesh Labor Resource Center General Secretary Shibly Anowar Sumon, Bangladesh Shramik Federation General Secretary Fayez Hossain, Bangladesh Garib Mukti Andolon President Shamsuzzaman Milon, Bangladesh Krishok Federation Vice-President Rehana Begum, Bhola District Unit Convener Alam Bachchu, Readymade Garment Shramik Federation President Lovely Yesmin, Ganochhaiya Sanskritic Kendro President Motahar Hossain.
Highlighting the importance and significance of World Indigenous People Day the speakers said that indigenous people are the first residents in the world. They played important part in ushering the civilization. They could not be the negligible fact in society. But the capitalist system cornered them in various ways.
There is no recognition of indigenous people in Bangladesh. They are persecuted, deprived and suppressed. The rights declared by UNO were never ever fulfilled although the state is committed to doing so. There is no good system to protect the language, culture and rituals of indigenous people. Their customary right to land has been being hindered. They are suffering entity crisis for years. Because of expropriation from their land they are migrating.As the backward community in society they should be categorically focused.
Three point-demands were raised from the human chain: Immediate constitutional recognition of indigenous people, customary right of indigenous people to the land and formation of a separate land commission for the indigenous people living in the plain land.
