August 30 in St. Petersburg a rally will be held for a cease-fire in Ukraine and the early start of peace talks. Participants of the rally will protest against the “anti-terrorist operation” in Kiev, as well as against the policy of the Russian authorities, inciting armed conflict in the south-east of Ukraine [1].
Russian and Ukrainian society is split. Currently there are people who consider themselves patriots, are recorded in the sofa troops, urging Ukrainians to kill the glory of the “Russian world”, people who consider themselves Democrats justify war crimes and human rights violations emanating from the Kiev government. Meanwhile, the number of victims of the war by mid-August has exceeded 2000 people, tens of thousands of civilians were displaced.
No war
Among us there are people who sympathized with the Independence and Antimaidan or not supported anyone. Today, however, it becomes clear that the chances for progressive social change no one of the parties, while continuing this brutal war. Each day of the war intensifies openly fascist nationalist forces in Russia, Ukraine, the DNI and LC. The war in the south-east today is beneficial only to the oligarchs on opposing sides, the ruling elite of Russia, Ukraine and the West.
We are against fascism and chauvinism, regardless of “nationality”.
We are against the killing of civilians and political terror, no matter where it comes from.
We are against the propaganda lie on either side of the front.
We are against the continuation of ATO and Russian arms, military equipment and volunteers in the conflict zone.
We require all parties to armed conflict immediately conclude an armistice, a cease-fire and begin peace negotiations, as well as the release of prisoners and political detainees arrested in connection with the conflict.
We do not consider it possible to discuss concessions that have to go warring parties, the terms of peace, political and territorial structure of Ukraine until the Donbass shells exploding and bloodshed of civilians. We believe that the duty of every honest man today is to demand that their “legitimate” and “self-proclaimed” Governments make immediate efforts to ceasefire.
Notice of the action filed in the Smolny. It should take place on Saturday, August 30, at 14.00 at the Champ de Mars. Organizer of the event is the Russian socialist movement. We call on the Left, democratic and civil society organizations and activists who agree with this statement, to support the rally.
During the action prohibited the use of symbols of the warring parties, including the flags of Russia, Ukraine, the DNR and LNR.
