In this Jan. 12 we remember a year of the tragic earthquake that devastated Haiti, the first country to proclaim its independence in Latin America. Faced with the disaster and the humanitarian problems caused by the earthquake all we have saw was a military response.

Today, after a year of the tragic event, many of victims caused by the earthquake are still living in extremely difficult, extended today by the severe outbreak of dengue fever that devastates the Caribbean country.

In this tragic day, we look back over all those killed in the earthquake and pay our heartfelt solidarity to all the families of the victims and to general population.

We reaffirm that it is necessary that the great powers to pay the debts that they historical have with the Caribbean country; likewise, we re-affirm once again that the solution to the politics and social crisis in Haiti is not a military one.

Only with the reconstruction of the Haitian democratic State, with the strengthening of its national sovereignty and free participation of its people in the reconstruction process will it be possible a dignified exit for the heroic and martyred people of Haiti

The earthquake that devastated a year ago the Car ibbean island led with it lives and dreams, but not the hope to build a sovereign and democratic Haiti.

Toda solidariedade ao Haiti.

Neste dia 12 de janeiro rememoramos um ano do trágico terremoto que devastou o Haiti, o primeiro país a proclamar sua independência na América Latina. Frente à calamidade e os problemas humanitários provocados pelo terremoto o que vimos foi uma resposta militar.

Hoje, passado um ano dos acontecimentos, as inúmeras vitimas ocasionadas pelo terremoto ainda vivem dias de extrema dificuldade, ampliados na atualidade pelo grave surto de dengue que assola o país caribenho.

Nesta trágica data rememoramos todos os mortos no terremoto, prestamos nossa sincera solidariedade a todos os familiares das vitimas e a população de um modo em geral.

Reafirmamos ser imprescindível que as grandes potências paguem as dividas históricas que possuem com o país caribenho, de igual modo, reafirmamos uma vez mais que a saída para a crise política e social no Haiti não é militar.

Somente com a reconstrução do Estado democrático haitiano, com o fortalecimento de sua soberania nacional e a participação livre de seu povo no processo de reconstrução é que será possível uma saída digna para o heróico e martirizado povo haitiano.

O terremoto que há um ano atrás devastou a ilha caribenha levou vidas e sonhos, mas não a esperança de construir um Haiti soberano e democrático.
