The briefing paper “Anatomy of Impunity” presents events of massacres and other heinous crimes committed against the people by the terrorist military junta including the burning of bodies, the razing and torching of villages, artillery shelling, launching airstrikes and using helicopters to terrorize civilians. It also discusses the failure of ASEAN and UN to take action against the junta and the need for international jurisdiction for grave crimes in Myanmar to be established by the UN.
116 Myanmar civil society organizations, including Progressive Voice, have also issued a joint open letter addressed to Member and Observer States of the Council, calling on the Council to explore all possible routes to seek accountability for Myanmar through the establishment of a jurisdiction for atrocity crimes mandated by the UN.
