Today, November 7, 2020 is the 24th death anniversary of comrade Abdus Satter Khan, the lifeblood of the peasant movement in Bangladesh, a people’s intellectual, the organizer of the liberation war, the founding president of the Bangladesh Krishok Federation and the former coordinator of the Communist Party of Bangladesh-ML.
A discussion meeting was held in the party office hall room on the occasion of the day. Presided over by Badul Alam, General Secretary of CPBML the meeting was addressed by, among others, CPBML Politburo members Comrade Mukhlessuddin Shaheen, Zayed Iqbal Khan, Central Member AKM Shahidul Alam Faruk, Workers Party of Bangladesh Dhaka Metropolitan President Comrade Abul Hossain, Bangladesh Shramik Federation General Secretary AAM Fayez Hossain, Subal Sarker, General Secretary of Bangladesh Landless Association, Lovely Yasmin, President of Readymade Garments Workers Federation, Rafiqul Islam Sujan, President of Bangladesh Garment and Industrial Workers Federation, Al- Amin, General Secretary of Motherland Garment Workers Federation, Jahanara Begum, General Secretary of Bangladesh Floating Women Workers Union, peasant leader Shahabuddin Matubbar, women peasants’ leader Rehena Begum.
The speakers at the meeting said that after the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1989, the world’s communist movement began to ebb. But that incident gave the whole world a chance to think anew. In such a context, a renaissance has taken place in the countries of the world including Latin America. Working class political parties have come to power in the countries and are instilling new hope in the minds of the people. The leaders said that the capitalist system is not scientifically permanent. It is bound to be defeated by the revolutionary struggle of the working class. They said that after the collapse of the Soviet System, the working class in Bangladesh also became frustrated.
The only way out of this situation is to strengthen the communist movement. To revive the working class with a new vision of Marxism. In the reality of Bangladesh, as opposed to the bourgeois hegemony the counter hegemony of the workers-peasants-toillig people has to be established. They also said that Bangladesh is a fertile ground for developing the labor movement by defeating the reactionary forces. Today, there is a dire need for a communist leader like Comrade Abdus Sattar Khan to work at the grassroots.
