Shahab Khatak Advocate president Awami Workers Party Khaiber Pukhtoonkhawa, was attacked this morning in Peshawar as he left his home for the court. Fortunately, he was quick to respond to the attackers and was able to continue driving away from those firing on him. His car was damaged, an FIR is just been registered.
In picture attached, a placard ask, “if terrorism is wrong why to be quite, resist against terrorism”. Shahab Khatak was never quite and raised voices against religious fundamentalism.
Shahab Khatak, a known radical poet and a senior advocate, was elected president of Awami Workers Party KPK when our three party merged to establish the AWP.
I got a message from Quetta, Balochistan from our comrade Saba, that he has received threats from a death squad, as they told him on telephone yesterday. He attended our last federal committee meeting in Lahore on 1st March 2014, AWP has advised him to leave Quetta for a safer place.
AWP condemn this cowardly attack and demand an immediate action by police to launch an all out search for the attackers.
