The South Korean government’s repression against the Migrants Trade Union and MTU officers continues. Most recently, the South Korean Immigration Service has denied former MTU president Michel Catuira’s re-entry into South Korea. In addition, a recent appeals court ruling overturned a verdict of the Seoul 12th Administrative Court finding in favor of Catuira against the Immigration Service’s cancellation of his visa and affirming his right to act as MTU’s president. Moreover, the Supreme Court case in relation to MTU’s legal union status has been pending for over 5 years and the South Korean government refuses to recognize MTU.

Our petition demands that the South Korean authorities:
1. Withdraw all restrictions on Michel Catuira’s entry into Korea.
2. Respect the decision of the Seoul 12th Administrative Court.
3. Stops all measures aimed at interfering with MTU activities and
register it as a legal union.
