KARACHI: The success of Nepal’s pro-democracy movement gained acclaim in Pakistan as Labour Party Pakistan (LPP) on Wednesday staged a demonstration here to express solidarity with what it called a revolutionary struggle that would embolden anti-dictatorship campaigners in other countries of the region.
Speakers at the demonstration held outside the KPC hoped that anti-monarch struggle in Nepal would bolster anti-imperialist public movements and consequently an end to the undemocratic regimes in South Asia. They said that the sacrifices of 13,000 martyrs who gave their lives for a public revolution would not go in vain.
A large number of activists including women belonging to LPP and its sister organisations besides leaders of other progressive and labour parties attended the demonstration. They were holding banners and placards inscribed with slogans in support of Nepal’s revolutionary struggle and against monarchy.
