LPP formally left All Parties Democratic Movement APDM. The decision was announced by Farooq Tariq spokesperson LPP in a press conference at Lahore today. Similarly, Nisar Shah general secretary LPP issued a press release in Islamabad in this regard.

LPP leaders told the press that APDM have served its purpose by getting rid of the military dictatorship.

“The political scenario have changed. There is no need of the Left and Right to be on the same platform as military dictatorship have already been forced to resign”. LPP spokesperson said.

To oppose the present civilian set up, a different sort of progressive alliance is needed. LPP would continue to build the Left alliance Awami Jamhuri Tehreek as an alternative to the politics of capitalists and feudals as well as the religious fanatics.

Here we formally want to inform you about the detachment of Labour Party Pakistan, from the All Parties Democratic Movement. In fact, the aforementioned decision is an outcome of our long-lasting debates within our Central National Committee.

We actually, admire your laudable role of leading the APDM and we are convinced about the rightfulness of your strategy - the strategy that has forced the Musharraf dictatorship, for leaving the power corridors. Of course, boycotting the elections was a precise decision of APDM, otherwise, there General Musharraf was standing by, for manipulation/rigging of electoral process and he might have used his shameful tactics for bringing his followers back in the parliament.

We think that our Alliance has achieved its goals because a military dictator has, now been thrown out of the scene and certainly, the APDM has played a deceive role in maintaining political pressure for getting rid of dictatorship.

We do believe that we don’t have any political justification for the continuity of this alliance anymore.

Since, APDM was also striving for the independence of judiciary, therefore the Labour Party Pakistan, despite of our detachment from your Movement, would keep supporting the lawyers movement for the unconditional reinstatement of all deposed judges including Chief Justice, Iftikhar Choudry.

Moreover, people are being the victim of ongoing economic recession as current regime has bowed down in front of International Financial Institutions (IFIs) and resultantly, rapidly following their policies in the wake of diminishing foreign reserves. So, in these state of affairs, we should form a new broad base alliance of progressive forces, which could become the voice of people against our present parasite type of rulers.

The current regime is, in fact a continuity of the previous dictatorial government and we must, have to figure out a new kind of strategy to cope with the wrongdoings of our rulers. The proposed strategy should revolve around the accountability of rulers, so the people could identify the similarities within the modus-operandi of Zardari regime and its predecessor.

Our people should realize that the secret of socio-economic and political well being is concealed within their own aspirations.

Today, we are looking for a new coalition on the basis of ideological harmony, rather than a campaign or strategic alliance as was the case of APDM.

We appreciate you and other nationalist political parties, who are struggling for a democratic, progressive and prosperous society. We are hopeful that we would become successful in formation of new alliance comprising all democratic and progressive political elements.

Definitely, the proposed alliance would be a coalition of ideologically like-minded political forces.

Labour Party Pakistan is determined that entirety of progressive forces must join hands for the elimination of prevailing feudalistic and capitalistic system. It’s the need of time that all progressive and democratic forces should come together to deal with the religious fanatics and war-mongers.

We assure you that Labour Party Pakistan would be your first supporter, if you would move into right direction. We are detaching ourselves from the APDM but not from the truthful democratic politics.
We have learnt a lot from your leadership and we pay tribute to your struggle for the democracy.
